MMI™ TECHNYL® Design powered by Digimat: benefits and opportunities of anisotropic simulation within the reach of all plastics components designers.
Since 2006, Solvay Engineering Plastics works in partnership with e-Xstream Engineering, defining behavioural models for the simulation of polyamide reinforced with glass fibres. Using Digimat is essential for TECHNYL materials reinforced with short fibres whose orientation is governed by the injection process. Mechanical behaviour of resulting composite is strongly impacted by fibres distribution on plastic part. Digimat create a link between production process and part mechanical behaviour, to finally obtain a predictive simulation. From first collaboration project (DAMOFIP) was born MMI database, distributed by Digimat-MX software. With more than 10,000 material files, including temperature and humidity dependencies for large rate of fibres contents, this database has been validated on industrial cases, and available now to all plastic component designer. It integrates a wide range of material models, ranging from elastic up to viscoelastic-viscoplastic behaviour, to manage different level of CAE analysis, from simple modal up to complex crash simulations.
This presentation will be an opportunity to discuss industrialists cases on which the anisotropic analysis makes the difference compared to traditional approaches often empirical. Modal analysis, analysis considering material plasticity, impact and fracture will be treated. We will show that the proposed behaviour models are independent from CAE codes and finite element type. Finally we will explain how to access the database and give you a quick overview on the implementation and outcome of DURAFIP project on fatigue.
