Model Based Design in Practice: Simulation, Fast Prototyping and Code Generation of a HVAC Display using E4Coder

Many HVAC applications are nowadays specified using natural language, leading to imprecise specifications and impossibility to test the system before a physical prototype is built. On the other hand, model-based design holds the possibility of implementing a simulated environment where an executable model can be tested. This presentation will show a complete model design flow of a HVAC display, which includes:

  • an executable model of a display implemented using state machines;
  • the generation of standalone executables for GUI fast prototyping;
  • the code generation process for the real target

This model based flow has been developed using the E4Coder Toolbox, which provides Finite State machines, GUI Editor, and code generation for Scilab and ScicosLab.
